Yep. I don’t care what you’ve heard or what you think, it simply isn’t. What seems dangerous isn’t always. Scary isn’t bad. Dangerous is bad. They are however similar feelings, especially in the moment.
Weightlifting/resistance exercise is one of the best things that you can do for your general health but the myth still persists that it’s dangerous. Doctors continue to tell people to not do compound movements because they are dangerous. While it’s true that you can hurt yourself weightlifting the fact is that it happens much less frequently than with running.
Running is as or more complex than compound movements when weightlifting but because more people do it, it’s seen as something that your average Joe can do. If you were to train the movement of running the way you train movements while weightlifting your injury rate would go down but no one does that.
Just because weightlifting may seem scary and intimidating, there’s nothing better that you could do for your long-term health.
